A hiring manager (HM) asked me a really interesting question in a workshop the other day, specifically about this.
He wants to hire for emotional intelligence (EI) but is unsure specifically HOW to do this, (which should be noted is an excellent question and really speaks to his general understanding of emotional intelligence and its importance, it is also a very common question that I get. So if you’re thinking the same thing don’t feel alone)
So we discussed approaches to target specific emotional intelligence competencies in questions, and responses to listen for, and how it is important for him as the HM and leadership to have an understanding of EI for his own success, and so he can support the hiring, on-boarding and RETENTION of EI folks.
